Canada’s Northwest Territories (NWT) is a destination worthy of being on every photographer and adventure traveler’s Bucket List! Raw and rugged terrain, mountains, waterfalls, rivers and lakes, wildlife, wide open spaces, midnight sun, aurora borealis, spectacular landscapes, fresh air, strong arts and culture scene…. these are only some of the highlights!
The NWT is located on the very top of Canada, sandwiched between Yukon and Nunavut Territories. With a landmass of 1.346 million square kilometres, (larger than Germany, France and Italy combined!), the NWT is home to approximately 43,000 people; 50% of which live in the capital city of Yellowknife, while the rest are dispersed among 32 other communities, some of which are without all-weather road access.
Born, raised and still residing in Yellowknife, I am proud to call this my home-sweet-home. As a world traveler, I can attest that there is no other place like the Northwest Territories. In fact, I’ve yet to find another location that I would consider giving this all up for.
A visit to the Northwest Territories is guaranteed to be spectacular, breathtaking and unforgettable!
